That's right, on Sunday, May 4th at 1:00 p.m. Steve Ruby and I will become husband and wife! We met here at the YWAM base last year-(actually first by phone last January, then in person in June). We connected almost immediately, however we were heading in different directions geographically. January, he called to inquire about our School of Jewish Studies, and I took the call. However I was on my way to Israel. So he came here (from Phoenix) while I went to Jerusalem.
In June I came to the base for 3 weeks, then he left for Phoenix while I went to Chicago. I was supposed to head to India from there, but instead felt I should come back to Richmond. And Steve was back here completing his internship. So in September with us both in the same location, we started spending time together and it wasn't long before we both knew there was something very special developing between us. During the 10 Days of Awe (between Rosh Hoshanah and Yom Kippur) we were both very aware of our feelings for one another, and the weekend of Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), he told me how he was feeling.
Thus our courtship began on September 23rd, 2007, and on Valentine's Day of this year (2008) he proposed! The wedding is approaching quickly, only 39 days as of this writing, wow!!!
We'll be married here in Richmond (at the YWAM property), with the reception immediately following at our synagogue (Tikvat Israel). We'll stay in the area that night, then head to Tennessee to a cabin in the woods for a week. After that we come back through Richmond to pick up our things and head down to Florida for the next 6 months. And what will we do in Florida???
I'll save that for my next entry!
Bye for now, and blessings to you!
